The poster contest focused on two themes: energy efficiency and renewable energy, and was designed to enhance education of Iowa students regarding these very important issues to Iowa. A primary goal of the program was to prompts students to consider ways of saving energy and producing energy with alternative fuels.

There was a variety of wonderful posters submitted illustrating these themes from students in grades 1-6 from all across southeast Iowa. They were judged on accuracy of information, creativity and originality in design, color and effectiveness. The criterion of effectiveness related to the way the poster educates others about energy efficiency or renewable energy.
