Winter Carbon Monoxide Safety
Winter is the time of year where windows and doors are closing, heaters come on, and you need to be especially aware of carbon monoxide safety.
Appliances that burn fossil fuels like space heaters and furnaces produce carbon monoxide when they are turned on. If not vented or burned properly, excessive amounts of carbon monoxide may form, especially this time of year when your house is sealed up.
Check your system and appliances periodically, especially if your family is experiencing dizziness, fatigue, headaches, nausea, and/or irregular breathing for no other apparent reason. Install a carbon monoxide detector to alarm you if levels rise. And don’t forget to test it regularly.
If you are concerned about your propane system, call Access Energy Propane, 319-385-1577, and stay safe.
