Save Energy: Decorate with LEDs
With Christmas just around the corner many of us have started thinking about putting Christmas lights up.
Over the past couple years, switching from traditional lights to energy saving LED lights have become very popular. Not only do they save 10% less energy than traditional bulbs, they are much safer.
LEDs (light emitting diode) are a type of light that is emitted from a diode, eliminating the use of color filters. These diodes are built inside solid cases which protect them, making them incredibly durable and less likely to break. On an average, LEDs will last for about ten years. When a bulb does go bad, instead of burning out, it will simply start to fade-without affecting the entire strand.
Along with being energy efficient, these lights emit little or no heat and pose less fire risk than traditional lights. All lights are a fire hazard when used next to flammable materials or left on too long, but you can reduce the danger by changing to LED lights.
Using LED lights for your Christmas decorations is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional Christmas lights.
