Free Safety Demonstrations to Schools & Communities

May 11, 2009
Many area 3rd and 4th grade students are learning about the importance of electrical and propane safety through a program conducted by Access Energy Cooperative. The program is real hands-on learning to help kids  understand why it’s important to take precautions around electricity. Students are instructed on the history  of electricity, safe use of electricity, safety precautions around electricity and electrical poles, downed power lines and utility substations, as well as the importance of staying away from power lines during outdoor activities such as kite-flying or climbing trees is also stressed. A highlight of the presentation is dressing up a volunteer student in the safety equipment that allows line-workers to safely work on energized power lines.
