Access Energy Coop Honored for Economic Development Leadership

March 01, 2005
Commitment to community and creating partnerships with local economic development efforts are at the foundation of Iowa’s rural electric utilities’ mission. Iowa Area Development Group (IADG) annually recognizes their rural electric utility sponsors for outstanding commitment, contribution, and participation in economic development projects.

Commitment to community and creating partnerships with local economic development efforts are at the foundation of the mission of Access Energy Cooperative. At Northeast Missouri Power Cooperative’s annual meeting in Palmyra, Missouri Access Energy was recognized for our economic development accomplishments and commitment to our local communities. With the success of these development projects rural electric cooperatives are making a significant contribution to the quality of life and the economy of Iowa.

Access Energy Cooperative received the IADG Site Development System Award for our assistance and support of building a 50,000 sq.ft. a “speculative building” in the Crossroads Industrial park located in Mount Pleasant. This is the second spec building project that Access Energy has partnered on with the local development group. Access Energy was able to secure a $300,000 zero-interest loan from USDA Rural Development to assist with the project. Access Energy was also instrumental in helping build the Crossroads Industrial park that has already attracted two major projects for the Mount Pleasant community.
