Rebates at Your Cooperative
At Access Energy Cooperative we are often asked about why our rebates don’t cover some appliances that other utilities include in their rebate programs.
When we evaluate an appliance for a rebate we look at two criteria. The first criterion that must be met is if the individual member who is purchasing the appliance will save money by reducing their energy usage. The second criterion is, will the Cooperative benefit from the reduced energy usage.
The second criterion is important because if the Cooperative is to be able to offer a cash rebate, we must be able to cover the cost of the rebate through savings in our wholesale power cost. If we were to offer rebates without off setting the savings in our wholesale power cost, we would be subsidizing the rebates through our rates. This would eventually lead to higher rates for all our members.
Currently we offer rebates on ground source heat pumps, dual fuel heating systems, add-on heat pumps and electric water heaters. If you have questions about our rebate program or if you have a suggestion for us to evaluate, please contact the marketing department.
