Take Control and Save

May 23, 2008
Beginning in July, Access Energy Cooperative, in conjunction with Associated Electric Cooperative (AECI), our generating cooperative, we will be launching our “Take Control and Save” program. The goal of the program is two fold. One is to help you control the size of your monthly electric bill. The other is to delay the construction of new generating plants.

As I have shared with you in the past, our cost of providing you electric service is going up, and each new kilowatt-hour cost more to produce than the old one. The best way we have in controlling our cost is by slowing our consumption of electricity.

Through our “Take Control and Save” program, we will be providing financial incentives for you to make your homes and businesses more energy efficient. To begin with, we will provide incentives for you to use compact florescent bulbs (CFLs). We will also be enhancing our rebates on air source heat pumps (ASHP) and geothermal heat pumps (GSHP). In conjunction with our energy audits, we will provide rebates on additional attic insulation, caulking and weather stripping. We may also be including rebates for certain energy star appliances.

We will have more details on the “Take Control and Save” program in future editions of Highline Headlines and at www.accessenergycoop.com.
