Electric Service Connection & Reconnection Changes

Effective Feb.1, 2009 the state of Iowa must inspect newly installed electric service before your electric cooperative can energize it. The new law also requires state inspection before your electric co-op can re-energize existing electric service.
 
The new requirements are part of Iowa’s new State
Electrical Inspection Program passed by the Iowa General Assembly in 2007. If the state does not perform an inspection within three days of the request being made, your electric co-op can energize the electric service.
 
Some questions remain about the program, and you can count on your electric co-op to keep you informed about changes when the state provides that information.
