Keeping Your System Reliable

January 25, 2012
We have had several inquires here at the office about the line staking that our contractor, Sherrill’s Electric Utility Services, has been performing.  They are finalizing the design of about 35 miles of line that we plan to replace this year. Reliability is a top priority at Access Energy Cooperative, so we have undertaken a multi-year project to replace lines that were built in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. The steel in the wire of these lines is starting to corrode and needs to be replaced in order to reduce outages.

Once Sherrill’s Electric Utility Services has completed their design work, we will be contracting out about 30 miles of this work which we intend to complete this summer.  The Cooperative’s crews will build about 5 miles.  If you have any questions about the work being done or any concerns about proposed pole locations, please give our Engineering Department a call.  We will update you in future editions of Highline Headlines on the progress of this project.
