Successful Projects
Board Approves Loan for Fluoro-Seal
Access Energy Cooperative's Board of Directors recently approved a $150,000 loan for Fluoro-Seal International, L.P., the latest industry to locate in Mt. Pleasant's Crossroads Industrial Park.
Fluoro-Seal has purchased the 50,000 square foot speculative building in the industrial park and hopes to begin production this summer. The company applies a fluoridation treatment on plastic containers that prevents the chemicals inside from leaching away through the plastic.
Access Energy Cooperative was instrumental in securing a $300,000 grant from the USDA to support the original construction of the 50,000 sq. ft. spec building in 2005. Proceeds from the sale of the building were returned to the cooperative and added to the Revolving Loan Fund program for future economic development projects such as this, which will be used for building improvements and equipment.
Production is expected to begin this summer, although construction and hiring of the 15 to 20 employees for the facility has begun to allow for the training required to work with fluoride gas.
Texas-Based Company Purchases Mt. Pleasant Spec Building
The 50,000 square foot speculative building located in the Crossroads Industrial Park in Mt. Pleasant, has been sold to a Texas-based firm that plans to begin operations by summer.
The new industry, Fluoro-Seal International, L.P., from Houston, Texas, applies a fluoridation treatment on plastic containers that prevents the chemicals inside from leaching away through the plastic.
The company treats a variety of plastic containers including agricultural chemicals, lawn and garden chemicals, sanitary containers biomedical and pharmaceuticals.
The plant will initially be doing fluoridation treatments of containers for a local customer in Fort Madison and for a competitor in Muscatine.
Production is expected to begin this summer, although hiring of the 15 to 20 employees for the facility will begin immediately to allow for the training required to work with fluoride gas.
Access Energy Cooperative was instrumental in securing a $300,000 grant from the USDA to support the original construction of the 50,000 sq. ft. spec building in 2005. Proceeds from the sale of the building will now be returned to the cooperative and added to the Revolving Loan Fund program for future economic development projects.
