Check out what safety equipment our linemen wear. When your mouse hovers over a piece of safety equipment, you can read what it is for. Or you can download a picture of him with all the descriptions at once.

A very important part of the Access Energy Cooperative mission is to provide safe, reliable service. Part of that commitment to safety includes properly equipping our linemen with safety gear.
For instance, their clothing is made of special fibers to protect them. These special fibers prevent electric arcs that can cause flare-ups when working with energized lines that can ignite clothing. Should this happen with regular fabrics, they could melt and adhere to the skin.
Also, any equipment that comes into contact with the lines (rubber sleeves or hot sticks) must be dielectric, meaning they are non-conductive, and they are tested on a regular basis.
Good equipment is only half the equation though. Continuous training is provided on safety issues and new techniques to prevent accidents or injuries.
