New Meters and Line Extension Services

Access Energy Cooperative is proud to provide electric service to our members. Our goal is to make the process of developing your new service as easy as we can.The following guide is provided to help guide the process in the most efficient way:

New Construction

Submit a request through our

by selecting "new construction"
1. Call our engineering department at 319-385-1577 or 1-866-242-4232
2. Please include a cell phone number when providing your information
Our staking department will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet with you to determine your site location and desired service route
1. Access Energy Cooperative will provide a quote for line extension if needed and any other costs associated with building your electric service
2. A $200 engineering fee is required prior to this service being completed

Line extension Policy

Access Energy Cooperative provides a 250-foot overhead line extension for new residential/business construction from our existing facilities
Costs for any additional line extension in excess of 250 feet are the responsibility of the member and the cost of construction must be paid for in advance
If the member prefers underground service, the costs for the line extension are the responsibility of the member and the cost of construction must be paid for in advance
For low-use services, costs for line extensions are the responsibility of the member and the cost of construction must be paid for in advance
Member is responsible for any additional tree clearing
Easements will be required

Once all forms are completed and signed, the appropriate fees are paid, and permits are approved, the new service can proceed to be scheduled for construction as soon as it can be completed. Lead-time will vary dependent on our current workload and weather conditions.
