What Electrical Equipment Is the Member Responsible For?

If electrical equipment should become damaged due to natural causes, it may be confusing as to who is responsible for repairing damages. The graphic below shows what equipment is owned by Access Energy Cooperative, and what is owned by the member. If you have any questions, call us at 1-866-242-4232.

What equipment are you responsible for?

When equipment is damaged, it's good to know who is responsible for maintenance and repairs of our electric service,

Overhead Electric Service
Access Energy Cooperative's Responsibility

  • Wires from the transformer to the meter pole and electrical connections to those wires.
  • The meter pole, guy wires, ground wires and ground rods.
  • The meter.

Member-Owner's Responsibility

  • Wires from the meter pole to other services/buildings and connections for those wires.
  • Fuse and/or breaker panels including disconnect switches.

Underground Electric Service
Access Energy Cooperative's Responsibility

  • Wires from the transformer to the meter location and the connections on those wires.
  • The meter.

Member-Owner's Responsibility

  • Wires from the meter location to other services/buildings and connections for those wires.
